When it comes to foods pretty much everyone loves, not much compares to macaroni and cheese. It's right up there with pizza and French fries as an almost universally-beloved dish. You can get fancy versions of it, vegan versions, gluten-free versions: just about any type of cheesy goodness your mind can dream up, you can find in mac and cheese form. When it comes to macaroni and cheese in Kansas, one of the best places to visit is Wine Dive + Kitchen, with two Sunflower State locations, one in Wichita and one in Manhattan.
The name and extensive wine selection here might lead you to believe that it's primarily a wine bar, but you definitely don't want to miss out on the food at this place.
The restaurant in Wichita was recently remodeled and it shows -- you'll discover a lovely interior design that feels upscale, but not too elegant.
You'll find a wide variety of delicious dishes here, including some great sandwiches and seafood options.
Do not skip out on the macaroni and cheese, though - it's some of the best in Kansas.
This stuff is about as far as you can get from the cheap blue boxes you remember eating as a kid. Wine Dive makes its mac and cheese with lobster, shrimp, and crab tossed in a three-cheese mixture cooked in white wine sauce. It's incredible.
The grilled avocado appetizer is also quite delicious. It's stuffed with cream cheese, pico de gallo, and smoked trout. That's definitely a strange combination, but it sure is tasty.
Of course, there are plenty of other great dishes to try out here, and you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
