I feel like Iowa, in general, and Des Moines, in particular ,doesn't get the credit it deserves as a culinary destination. Sure, we love good ol' country cooking here in Iowa, but the restaurant scene in the state's capital is growing by leaps and bounds every year. A perfect example of this is Oak Park, a new spot for fine dining in Des Moines, Iowa, that has received amazing reviews since it opened in 2023. This is one of the top spots for experimental New American cuisine in the Hawkeye State, but it's also drawn a lot of attention for its amazing design. The house it's located in was inspired by the designs of the legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright, and the restaurant manages to be both inventive and welcoming. It might just be the perfect spot for a special night out - or really, any night out!

Oak Park looks more like a stately manor than a restaurant, and that unique flair extends to everything it does.

Inside, the main dining room is cozy with an amazing view of Ingersoll Avenue.

But as you head deeper into the restaurant, you'll see more unique architectural touches - as well as a classy bar that looks like it belongs in an old-fashioned speakeasy.

The detail extends to every course - even the bread and butter is presented with a lot of flair.

The specialty is New American cooking, with classic dishes and cuts of meat elevated with artistic touches.

In fact, many dishes on the a la carte menu look like edible art installations - but flavor doesn't take a backseat here at all.
