If we told you that there's a restaurant in Indiana that's been bringing throngs of adoring, hungry fans by the car full ever since the 1920s, would you believe it? You sure ought to; Triple XXX Family Restaurant, in West Lafayette, was established as what is now Indiana's oldest drive-thru in 1929, and ever since, it's been a local staple. It's easy to see why: Triple XXX Family Restaurant serves up some of the best home-cooked deliciousness in the Hoosier State, and from the first bite, you'll love it.
Few things are as American as the drive-thru restaurant; this one has earned numerous accolades and awards throughout the decades, and for good reason.
The #1 ingredient at Triple XXX Family Restaurant, known also as simply "The X," is quality. The burgers are big, juicy, and full of flavor - exactly how a hamburger should be.
The menu is filled with American diner classics other than just burgers - you can also take your pick from a smorgasbord of deliciousness, including onion rings, french fries, chicken fingers, potato salad, homemade chili, and more.
Other classics you can find at The X include grilled cheese sandwiches, hot dogs, and, of course, the world-famous breaded tenderloin that's synonymous with the Midwest.
Breakfast is served all day long, so if you want a waffle at 2 in the afternoon, you can sure get one.
Some of the awards that The X has received over the years include the distinction of being "the best diner in the state of Indiana" by MSNBC, and USA Today included the establishment in its list of the 50 Best Burgers in the nation. The restaurant was also featured on Divers, Drive-Ins & Dives, a popular TV show.
Just as famous as the original drive-thru is the incredible house-made root beer, which is, to this day, still made onsite.
The root beer alone has won numerous awards, too! Thrillist called it the "most iconic" soft drink in Indiana.
Nowadays, you can still drive through and grab your meal that way, or you can eat in at the family-style diner.
We're confident that when you visit Triple XXX Family Restaurant, you'll quickly find your new favorite meals. Of course, just one visit isn't nearly enough to sample everything, so we guess you'll have to keep coming back and trying more menu items. You won't regret it - it'll be like a tour for your tastebuds!
Triple XXX is open Wednesday through Monday, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The restaurant is not open on Tuesdays, so make sure to remember that when planning your visit.
