The Ice Cream At This Indiana Shop Is So Good They Call It Velvet

There's an adorable little ice cream shop hiding in Indiana that been around since before you were born, and you have to try it. They serve a velvet ice cream that is simply irresistible.

Valpo Velvet is a tried and true local favorite that's been around since 1947 in the town of Valparaiso, which is in the northwestern corner of the state.

The interior is delightful and charming. This kid-friendly store is colorful and reminiscent of a 1950s diner.

There's also outdoor seating to enjoy. Your family will want to spend all day on this lovely patio eating velvet ice cream.

Valpo Velvet is known for the softest, most amazing dairy treats in the state. They use fresh ingredients and a homemade mix that makes for a smoother product.

In all, the shop makes about 60 different ice cream flavors. Menu items include ice cream bars, cookie sandwiches, cones, drumsticks, ice cream cakes, and pies, cake, and cupcakes.

The cream in this amazing velvet ice cream is sourced from Pleasant View Dairy in Highland each week. You can truly taste the freshness.

The shop even has an ice cream truck that you can find at area events, and its product is sold at select Woodman's stores in Illinois and Wisconsin.

The store is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Sunday hours begin at noon.)
