Let's face it, one of the most important aspects of living anywhere is knowing the best places to eat. Whether you live in Indiana or you are just passing through, you need to know where to eat. We did a little digging and found a list of restaurants that are unique to Indiana and well worth a trip! Which of the best unique restaurants in Indiana have you been to? Which are your favorites? Let's find out!
1. Bonge’s Tavern (Perkinsville)
Bonge’s Tavern is definitely not a place you want to go if you are looking to get seated quickly. In fact, it is extremely common to spend as much as two hours waiting for a table. That being said, waiting for your table is part of the experience at this tavern. Bring some friends and enjoy tailgating festivities in the parking lot while you wait. Fresh seafood and the most delicious pork tenderloin you will taste in Indiana are waiting for you.
2. The Overlook Restaurant & Lounge (Leavenworth)
The Overlook offers their guests a panoramic view of the Ohio River that extends for 20 miles. If you want delicious food and a beautiful view while you're eating, this place is great!
3. The Rathskeller (Indianapolis)
The theme of this dining establishment is historic, and it's set in the 19th century. If you want to enjoy a little Bavarian flair in downtown Indianapolis, The Rathskeller is the place for you to eat your next meal. In addition to being a place to eat, this is also an inn and a lively beer hall.
4. Das Dutchman Essenhaus (Middlebury)
It just doesn’t get much more unique than Das Dutchman Essenhaus. If you like Amish-style meals, you're going to love what this place has to offer. Each of their dinners comes with your choice of drink and a huge piece of pie for dessert. They even have lunch and dinner buffets! Yum!
5. Yogi's Grill & Bar (Bloomington)
If you live anywhere near Bloomington, you are going to want to check this place out even if just for the beer. With more than 50 different craft beers on tap, Yogi's has the best selection in the area! We're actually pretty happy eating from their tasty starters menu with the mini-corn dogs, broccoli poppers, chicken tenders, nachos, cheese sticks, chips, beer cheese, and boneless chicken wings. Delicious!
6. Mountain Jacks (Lafayette)
Mountain Jacks is easily one of the best steakhouses in Lafayette. Whether you want a juicy steak or some delicious prime rib, your mouth is going to be watering the moment you walk through the door. The food tastes as good as this place smells!
7. Corndance Tavern (Mishawaka)
Corndance Tavern has a comfortable and country style atmosphere and their menu is filled with generous and familiar dishes. You are guaranteed to leave with a full belly.
8. Cerulean Restaurant (Winona Lake & Indianapolis)
"Cerulean through food" is the theme behind Cerulean Restaurant. You will experience a sense of joy eating here because of just how happy and upbeat the place is. The food is also delicious. The only way to truly grasp what this place has to offer is to come to one of their locations and enjoy!
9. Lucrezia Café (Chesterton & Crown Pointe)
Lucrezia Café and Restaurant is a pretty interesting and unique place to eat because they offer a relaxed and electric atmosphere with friendly prices. What we really like about the restaurant is the rich history behind the name. You should seriously ask one of the servers about the history while you are there!
