Delicious food isn't hard to find around the Prairie State, especially in our cities. And in Campton Hills, part of Chicagoland, is where you'll find what could arguably be called one of the best restaurants in Illinois. Balmoral Restaurant not only has an incredible menu but a unique ambiance that can't be beaten.
Balmoral Restaurant is named after Balmoral Castle in Scotland. So, yes, this is a restaurant that features Scottish cuisine.
And if you've never had Scottish food before, you have to try it! This restaurant was opened by restauranteur Colin Smith who was born in Scotland.
Like Balmoral Castle, the Balmoral Restaurant's interior has the design and feel of a royal dining room. Its cozy feel, tables decorated with tartan, and food served on floral plates alone will tell you that this is no ordinary Illinois restaurant.
As for the menu, guests can enjoy a lovely variety of Scottish cuisine. Start with a soup like the green pea and ham and an appetizer like The Isle of Mull Chilled Shrimp Watermelon and Goat Cheese.
Pictured here is the True Scotch Egg. This appetizer is made with egg and pork banger sausage, deep-fried, and served on top of a potato nest.
For the main course, you may be tempted to order everything on the menu. The Campsie Glen Chicken, for one, sounds divine - chicken breast and smoked bacon with Stilton blue cheese sauce is most likely something you've never had before.
There's also Beef Wellington, venison, jumbo shrimp, bangers and mash, rabbit, shepherd's pie, duck breast, and so much more.
What will you order when you come here?
For an experience unlike any other, join Balmoral Restaurant for Scottish Afternoon Tea on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
