Editor's Note: As of September 2020, Ten/6 has temporarily closed while they secure a new location.
One of Idaho's newest restaurants is proving itself to be one of the most unique dining experiences in the state. Boasting a whimsical aesthetic, this restaurant looks like it's straight off a page from Lewis Carroll's famous story "Alice In Wonderland". Whether you're a fan of Alice or you simply are looking for some of the state's best brunch, you'll want to plan a visit to this place. Fall down the rabbit hole and get lost in the wonderful whimsy of this themed restaurant! You're bound to love it.
Ten/6 isn't just one of Idaho's newest restaurants. It's one of the most extraordinarily decorated, as well. Boasting spectacular Alice in Wonderland themed decor, Ten/6's wacky atmosphere will lure you in. However, it's the Creole inspired brunch menu that will have you falling down the rabbit hole again and again.
Named after the tag that sticks out of the Mad Hatter's hat in Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", Ten/6 is a seriously unique dining experience in Ceour d'Alene. The restaurant officially opened its doors in May of this year but they've already become a favored brunch spot in the community. This restaurant hits all of the marks, and then some.
Mirrors line the walls. Bunnies can be found at every table. Oh, and there seems to be furniture hanging from the ceiling. Ten/6 hits the nail on the head when it comes to transporting patrons into a fantasy world where tea time is all the time. The mom-and-daughter owned restaurant is too charming for words and you'll want to experience it firsthand.
However, the decor isn't the only creative thing about this restaurant. Inspired by Creole and New Orleans style of cooking, the owners opted for a simplistic but unique brunch menu, served from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm Wednesday through Sunday.
One of their most famous creations are the Vieux Carre Beignets—a traditional French Quarter favorite. These airy pockets have a crisp exterior and are dusted with a flurry of powdered sugar. The best part is they are made fresh every morning. A few of these beignets with a hot cup of coffee is an amazing combination.
In the mood for something savory? Try out the Cochcon sandwich (French for "pig"). Bacon, smoked pulled pork, and ham are stacked onto Ciabatta bread and stuck together with tangy Creole mustard and smoky provolone cheese. The menu may be small but it's filled with one-of-a-kind creations like this one.
Of course, no tea party is complete until you've had something sweet to top it off. Try out their famous cane syrup cake with buttermilk whipped cream or the "Unbirthday Cake", a delicious carrot cake with pineapple and coconut cream frosting.
The walls may boast an excessive amount of clocks, but you'll find yourself losing track of time as you chow down in Coeur d'Alene's most whimsical restaurant. Take a trip to Wonderland where the food is hot, fresh, and oh-so-delicious. You'll find Ten/6 at 3058, 726 N 4th St, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814.
