Savannah is filled with striking old buildings, but Artillery manages to be even more striking than most.
Originally, the building served as an armory that stored the artillery of the Georgia Hussars. This pre-Revolutionary War cavalry unit was organized by James Oglethorpe, the founder of Savannah, back in 1736.
The bar is quite elegant, which also sets it apart from most of the city's other establishments.
There's a strict dress code, with no tank tops, caps, flip-flops, or cut-offs allowed, and drunken rowdiness is not tolerated.
Enjoying a drink here is a unique experience that feels very refined.
You won't find bombs, shots, or Budweiser here. There's a heavy focus on champagnes and wines, served both by the glass or by the bottle.
There's also an array of unique cocktails to choose from. There are lots of unusual ingredients you wouldn't typically expect at a bar, like herbs, tobacco, egg whites, and teas.
This is such an interesting place to enjoy a drink. If you're a connoisseur of liquor, Artillery Bar in Savannah is one spot you don't want to miss,
