We Wandered Off The Beaten Path And Discovered This Adorable Small-Town Bakery In Georgia

I recently found myself in the small town of Royston, GA while running errands. This is an adorable little town of about 2,700 people, and while the day I visited was cloudy and a bit dreary, the downtown area looked incredibly charming and I'd love to come back and visit on a nicer day. I was feeling a bit peckish, and, being in a small town, wasn't met with too many options, but the one I did find looked quite appealing: Bebop's Bakery and Bistro. It's nestled right in the Royston downtown district and I was pleased to see it was quite busy. I'm always a fan of sweets and bread (I often joke I'm on the anti-Atkins diet), so I stopped on in for a bite to eat.

Bebop's Bakery and Cafe is right in the heart of downtown Royston, an area that's super-walkable and has lots of cool-looking shops to check out.

The bakery was easy to find, with plenty of signage and lots of free street parking available.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a ton of spare time on the day that I was visiting, so I couldn't stay as long as I would've liked. The next time I'm in the area on a nice day, I'd love to enjoy an al fresco treat on the outdoor tables.

Inside, I was met with a warm, cozy atmosphere and a fun farmhouse chic decor.

There were tables in the main area, but there was also a little section in the adjoining building that had books and small wares for sale, plus a few tables for those looking for a less crowded environment.

There was no shortage of tasty treats available, with plenty of donuts and other baked goods.

Whole cakes and pies were also available for purchase in a separate case.

I opted for a cannoli, which was the perfect blend of crispy shell and sweet cream.

Bebop's Bakery and Cafe also serves up a surprisingly diverse menu of "real food," such as pizzas and salads.

I wasn't feeling super-hungry and just got a grilled cheese sandwich, which was the perfect comfort food for such a dreary day. It was grilled up in an iron skillet and had the perfect amount of drippy cheddar cheese - it was superb!
