The Biggest Slice of Pizza We’ve Ever Seen Is From Lazy Moon Pizza And It Will Keep You Full For Days

Meet the Florida pizza slice so massive it defies your appetite. Lazy Moon isn’t kidding about ‘one slice to rule them all.

The first time I stepped foot into Lazy Moon Pizza was for their annual Arnold Schwarzenegger Day celebration. I think it was their ninth annual gathering of Austrian action-hero fans. What is Arnold Day, you ask? Essentially, a group of devoted movie lovers gathers to watch classic Schwarzenegger films and eat some of the best pizza you’ll ever taste... and trust me, I know pizza.

We’re not here to talk about Arnold Day, though; we’re here to talk about pizza, and Lazy Moon Pizza, at any of its three locations, delivers on those bigger-than-life slices you’ve been dreaming about. Arnold Day may have been my first visit, but word of Lazy Moon had traveled far before I ever entered its doors.

These slices are legendary. When my partner’s goddaughter celebrated her fourth birthday, her sole request was a pizza as big as the table. He’d been to Lazy Moon before and completely transformed her tiny pizza-loving life. Lazy Moon is more than a local favorite, y'all, it’s a Central Florida foodie institution. Their 72-hour aged dough, scratch-made sauces, and eclectic, fresh toppings make each slice a work of art. You’ll need both hands to tame them, and that’s exactly the point.

Lazy Moon has three locations, with the UCF spot being the original. I always found myself gravitating toward the Mills 50 location, where friends and I would run into each other unexpectedly, sharing slices or quietly competing over who could eat the largest portion.

The menu is flexible: slices, 20-inch, and 30-inch pies, with toppings ranging from classic cheese to bold options like birria beef or whipped ricotta. Non-tomato sauces include pesto, mustard, BBQ, and their famous Jason’s Mom’s Sauce, which we’ll get to shortly. For those who prefer structure, the “Lazy Faves” lineup—like the Cuban Slice, Saganaki Slice, or the vegan Treehugger—delivers consistent flavor without the need to strategize.

The slices are absurdly, gloriously large. I rarely finish one, which is heartbreaking, because I love dipping their perfectly crisp crust in either honey or Jason’s Mom’s Sauce, which is possibly the best hot sauce that has ever passed my lips (I'm not after the heat; I'm after the flavor.)

Born from a family recipe over 30 years ago, Jason’s Mom’s Sauce achieves the perfect balance of spice and flavor. It enhances rather than overpowers, making it the ultimate companion for pizza, wings, tacos, or even eggs. Local Orlando fans have consistently voted it one of the top three best locally made hot sauces in the Orlando Weekly’s “Best of Orlando” poll since 2019, and now kitchens nationwide are getting in on the secret.

Lazy Moon isn’t just about pizza, either. They offer calzones, salads, soups, and meal deals with clever names like the Boxcar Willy (a slice and a PBR) or The Good Life (a slice, a salad, a cup of soup, and a fountain drink). The cocktail menu is small but mighty; my personal favorite, the El Diablo Rojo, combines Old Forester bourbon, lemon sour, and a touch of Malbec to perfectly complement a slice... or two, if you can handle it.

The UCF location is a prime spot for more than just pizza. After grabbing a slice or sharing a pie with friends, you can wander into nearby shops like the local skate store we always hit before heading to dinner. The area buzzes with energy: students, local artists, and families create a vibrant backdrop, making the experience about more than food; it’s a full Florida day out.

Lazy Moon Pizza takes its slices seriously, and yet there’s a joy to the process. From handcrafted dough to inventive toppings and sauces that have become local legends, each bite is a reminder that pizza can be more than sustenance; it can be a shared, almost theatrical experience. You might leave full, but you’ll leave smiling, plotting your next visit.

So here’s the pitch: Visit Florida. Explore Orlando beyond the theme parks; maybe check out the Mennello Museum of American Art or stroll the peaceful Leu Gardens. Then swing by Lazy Moon Pizza. Order a slice the size of your ambition, dip it in honey or Jason’s Mom’s Sauce, and remind yourself that some of life’s best indulgences are served with a side of absurdity and a sprinkle of genius.
