Ice Cream From Dairy Palace In Delaware Is Well Worth Waiting In Line For

Dairy Palace in New Castle County is a historic ice cream stand known for its classic treats and long-standing family ownership.

If you grew up in New Castle County, chances are you've spent a good bit of time at the famous Dairy Palace ice cream stand. Of course, then, you don't need me to tell you exactly how great this legendary stand is! However, a big portion of our state rarely travels up here, and so, for them, let's chat about this legendary sweet stop.

Dairy Palace has been serving up ice cream across from the New Castle Airport since 1954, when it originally opened as a Dairy Queen franchise.

In 1956, the Parker family bought the ice cream parlor, and it has remained in their family ever since! When Dairy Queen wanted to update the shop to match their national standards in 1970, the Parkers bought out their franchise and kept it as their own spot, just as it had been for years.

Today, you can enjoy the same classic ice cream the Parkers have been serving for generations - but you'll probably have to wait in line to enjoy it!

Don't worry, this delicious frozen treat is worth waiting for. There's a reason everyone flocks to Dairy Palace!

Come pick up a cup of ice cream with your favorite flavored syrup and toppings...

... or enjoy the balancing act that occurs when you order a cone that's larger than life!

You can also try a banana split or a classic, old-fashioned sundae...

...or grab an ice cream sandwich, made with old-fashioned cookie wafers that will certainly remind you of your childhood.

If you're stopping by after a long day on the road, or coming through at lunch time, you can start off with a hot dog and chips, or a cheesesteak, before digging into dessert.

While most of the time, you'll have to wait with others for your treat, sometimes, you'll drive by at just the right time. If you happen to see there are no lines, you've got to stop!
