Once in awhile, a restaurant comes along that is not only delicious, but completely unexpected in terms of history and ambiance. When it comes to Colorado, there is one restaurant in particular that fits this bill (and no, it isn't Casa Bonita...), which is that of this fascinating Denver-area tea house:
Hiding out in Boulder is the stunning Dushanbe Tea House; an incredible work-of-art that was "disassembled, crated up, and sent halfway around the world to be rebuilt in Boulder as a symbol of friendship and cultural exploration" by its sister city of Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Created in 1987, the exquisite tea house features hand-painted and hand-carved panels and ceilings...
...hammered copper sculptures depicting "The Seven Beauties"...
...and jaw-dropping gardens that have to be seen to be believed.
As if the ambiance itself wasn't reason enough to visit, the Dushanbe (or Boulder) Tea House also offers a variety of delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner options...
...hot tea and can't-miss small plates...
...and a number of special events throughout the year.
The Dushanbe Tea House is located at 1770 13th St in Boulder and is open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information about the building, menu, and special events, please visit the Dushanbe's website.
