Cleveland, like many big cities, is constantly growing and expanding. This is fantastic for the local foodie scene, as it means new restaurants are opening in Northeast Ohio all the time. This upcoming year, consider making a New Year's resolution to support local businesses more often. Restaurants are a great place to start, and fortunately, there are plenty of still-spankin'-new eateries awaiting your visit. This upcoming year, you simply must pay a visit to these delightful newer dining destinations:
1. Hecks Express (515 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland)
Hecks Express, a branch of Hecks Café, may be new in the Cleveland city scene, but it's already changing the game. Imagine enjoying the same delicious food Hecks has become known for... but it comes to you in less time. This dream-come-true kitchen provides an elegantly modern environment that makes the dreamiest backdrop for a breakfast downtown.
2. Salt (17625 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood)
Lakewood is a nexus for super chic dining, and its small town charm is flawlessly captured in this picture-perfect restaurant. Here, petite portions pair perfectly with killer cocktails . This charming restaurant has shaped its identity around the sharing of small plates, so bring a crew with you when you pay it a visit.
3. Hansa Brewery (2717 Lorain Avenue, Cleveland)
Ohio City has built its modern identity around its vibrant arts culture, making it the perfect neighborhood for both breweries and places like Hansa Import House. Everything changed, however, when Hansa Brewery entered the scene in fall of 2016. Since then, it has been delighting patrons with welcoming European comfort food and ice cold beer. Which will you try first, the Polish-style Pussy Willow Gratzer or the Cleveland-style Cuyahoga Common Bier?
4. Zaytoon Lebanese Kitchen (1150 Huron Road, Cleveland)
This urban eatery may be a new addition to Playhouse Square, but the stars of its colorful menu fit in perfectly with the vibrant atmosphere of the theater district. Here, authentic Lebanese goodies are prepared in-house, each one bursting with flavor. "Zaytoon," for those wondering, is the Lebanese word for Olive.
5. Backyard Bocce (1059 Old River Road, Cleveland)
Clevelanders are rediscovering the attraction of socializing over a good old bocce game or a spirited cornhole tournament, providing an energetic scene in which places like Backyard Bocce can thrive. Here, you can take advantage of indoor and outdoor bocce courts or arcade games after enjoying beer and a pizza.
6. Marble Room Steaks & Raw Bar (623 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland)
This modern steak and raw bar restaurant makes its home in the iconic and glamorous Garfield Building. The food is delicious, but before you chow down, the stunning beauty of the aptly-named Marble Room will leave you entranced. This stunning edifice was built by two of President Garfield's sons to honor their father. Beginning in the opulent Jazz Age and continuing through 2007, this space was operated by the National City Bank. In this elegant environment, you may find yourself nibbling on king crab, a fancy filet, or perhaps a seared duck breast with a side of truffle pomme frites.
7. Harlow's Pizza (14319 Madison Avenue, Lakewood)
Madison Avenue has always been incredibly walkable, but now there is even more incentive to explore its charming shops. After a stroll on Madison, Harlow's Pizza is a great place to warm up and chow down on wood-fired Neapolitan pizza pies. Mmm!
8. The Plum Cafe and Kitchen (4133 Lorain Avenue, Cleveland)
Whether you are stopping in for a snack or an unforgettable meal, The Plum is sure to delight. This charming and chic destination has been featured in Cleveland Magazine as the Best New Restaurant of 2017, and locals can't stop raving. Find out what all the hullabaloo is about and swing by sometime!
9. LBM (12301 Madison Avenue, Lakewood)
LBM is not necessarily what you'd expect to find in Lakewood's Birdtown, but... quite frankly, you probably wouldn't expect to find a destination like this anywhere. This incredible cocktail bar is overflowing with personality, a trait that is reflected in the meals prepared in their kitchen. Though this destination is casual, it could easily pass for a Viking hall, so be prepared for an over-the-top presentation!
Cleveland, it seems, it ever-changing, but that's certainly not a bad thing, as it introduces us to new culinary creations each year. What is your favorite new restaurant in The Land?
