Usually when you hear about Northern California wine country, you automatically assume it's Napa or Sonoma. The truth is, however, that there are so many more places in the region that are amazing for drinking wine and just exploring the countryside. Here are some wineries off the beaten path that each offer more to explore than just the wine. From pumpkin patches to coastal hikes to crazy Northern California history, there are tons of fun opportunities at each destination whether you are a wine lover or not!
1. Camino/ Apple Hill in El Dorado County
Relax in the sun at Lava Cap winery after exploring the rows of apple trees, pumpkins, and Christmas trees. You can find this winery at 2221 Fruitridge Rd, Placerville, but there are tons of great vineyards scattered through these hills. Other places that deserve a stop are Boegar and Madronna.
2. Amador County
Help yourself to some home cooked grilled meats at Scott Harvey Wines Tasting Room while wine tasting during special events at 79 Main St, Sutter Creek. This is another region just loaded with great wineries and if you love tastings you should definitely book a trip to the region.
3. Far North Region
See the winemakers at work at Moonstone Crossing Winery in Trinidad. This coastal spot offers great views of the surrounding ocean. Go for walks or just soak in the seaside sun at 529 Trinity St. in Trinidad.
