This Remote Restaurant Near Buffalo Will Make You Feel A Million Miles Away From Everything

The Hole in the Wall Restaurant & Lounge in Perry offers delicious farm-to-table cuisine in a charming, upscale setting.

Take a relaxing drive down NY-400 S. and then US-20A E. and you'll eventually come to Perry, a humble little town in Wyoming County. That's where you'll find The Hole in the Wall Restaurant and Lounge - but don't be fooled by the name; this farm-to-table eatery serves some of the most delicious food you'll ever have the pleasure of trying.

The Hole In The Wall Restaurant & Lounge is located at 7056 Standpipe Road in Perry.

The building sits in the middle of farm country, and it certainly doesn't look like a hole in the wall... anymore.

The restaurant's roots go all the way back to 1932, when the original owner, George Dovolos, opened a little sandwich counter in Perry.

When the U.S. entered World War II, George decided he wouldn't allow active servicemen to pay for their meals in the hopes that his two sons might receive the same kindness while serving overseas. By the end of the war, 2,933 servicemen had received complimentary meals.

The sandwich shop became well known both for its owner's generosity and the tasty sandwiches it served. When people would give others directions, they'd refer to it as "the little hole in the wall in Perry."

The name stuck, and eventually, George renamed the place Hole in the Wall Restaurant. In 2004, Anita Billings bought it and moved it to its current location on Standpipe Road.

This place is definitely a hole in the wall in name only. Inside, you'll find a charming and upscale (but unpretentious) dining area.

The menu here consists mainly of local, seasonal dishes.

Since the restaurant sits on three acres, there's plenty of space for vegetable and herb gardens. There's even a honey bee yard!

In addition to some American classics, you'll also find several unique and creative specials on the menu.

This burger, topped with pulled pork and house made mac & cheese, was a recent dinner special.

The Hole in the Wall is also known for their mouthwatering pizza, which is wood-fired and totally addicting.

Many people enjoy a meal at Hole in the Wall on their way to or from the nearby Letchworth State Park in Castle.

The restaurant is open Wednesday - Sunday for lunch and dinner.

The next time you head to Letchworth or find yourself east of Buffalo, make sure to stop for a meal at this beloved restaurant. For more information, head to the Hole in the Wall Restaurant & Lounge website, and to keep up with their delicious daily specials, follow along on their Facebook page.

And if you're looking for a delicious meal right here in the city, these Buffalo restaurants are all outstanding.
