The epitome of a hidden gem, Catalpa Café is tucked away in the tiny, unincorporated community of Ozone.

It’s actually just minutes from another popular off-the-beaten-path eatery, Oark General Store.

There are several signs along the way, making it a bit easier to find the rural café.

As soon as you set foot inside, you’ll be greeted with a display case stocked with fresh-baked pies.

It’s also likely that you’ll be greeted by the owner, Randy. But he’s not just the owner. A true one-man show, he’s also the café’s cook, server, and…well, you get the picture.

So, what exactly does Randy cook? Just about anything!

More specifically, though, the menu features a variety of hearty ½-pound burgers and gourmet sandwiches.

Every weekend, mouthwatering specials are added to the already tasty offering.

And then there are the pies we mentioned earlier. Just like everything else at the café, they’re homemade and delicious.

Remember, with one person doling out made-from-scratch meals, the food isn’t going to be served in warp speed. However, we can confidently say that after one bite, you’ll agree the wait was worth it!
