We are all feeling the crunch lately as the prices of food continue to skyrocket. What I used to spend on groceries a few years ago, can only get me a few items now. The prices have risen in restaurants, too. Many of us have even cut back on eating out. Fortunately, some restaurants have managed to keep their prices reasonable while still delivering delicious food. For instance, you can get an entire meal including dessert at Dairy Dream in Mountainburg for under $10. With a simple but classic menu of burgers, fries, hot dogs, and ice cream treats, you can feed your entire family at this iconic roadside drive-in in Arkansas without breaking the bank. Let's take a look at the cheap eats at this old-school drive-in restaurant.
Sometimes we need to drive off the beaten path to find cheap eats. The best part about it though is those restaurants always have the best food that keeps folks coming back for more.
That's especially true for Dairy Dream in Mountainburg that's been serving delicious food since 1954. It began as a quaint little ice cream shop and to this day, this roadside drive-in has remained pretty much the same.
You'll need to walk up to the window to place your order. This old-school drive-in will definitely bring back some memories.
Over the years, this beloved gem on Highway 71 changed management, and has fortunately stood the test of time.
Depending on when you visit, you might see the parking lot packed with patrons who can't get enough of the tasty food. And speaking of food, the menu consists of burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, fries, snacks, and of course, ice cream treats, too.
Be sure to order a silver saddle, a wildcat, or a baby elephant...if you know...you know.
You'll notice that the prices are a lot cheaper than most fast-food places. Everything on the menu is less than $10. In fact, you can literally eat a 3-course meal for under $10.
Ok, I might be exaggerating a bit, but if you get a burger, fries, a drink, and an ice cream cone, that will cost just under $10. You can't beat that!
While you can't go wrong with anything on the menu, the Mountainburger is thee must-have item. It's like a Sloppy Joe but without the sauce and topped with cheese, sweet relish, onions and mustard. Folks can't get enough of this.
Once in a while, there are specials on the menu including this taco salad which was only $7. What a bargain!
Because the food is so cheap, you can easily treat the entire family to soft serve ice creams. Or splurge a little and get a milkshake or a sundae.
No matter what you choose to eat at Dairy Dream, you'll be getting delicious food for a very reasonable price. In times like this, we need to support local places where we can eat without breaking the bank.
Though far and few, I absolutely love that cheap eats like Dairy Dream are still around.
