If you're in the mood for a truly over-the-top dessert, Arizona is the place to be. From sticky buns the size of your head to massive ice cream sundaes, the Grand Canyon State has something to indulge every sweet tooth. ZuZu, a contemporary restaurant located inside the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale, boasts some of the craziest, most over-the-top milkshakes you've ever seen. The flavors change monthly, but one thing remains the same: they're almost too pretty to eat (emphasis on the "almost").
Tucked away in Scottsdale's Hotel Valley Ho, Zuzu is known for putting a chic, imaginative twist on classic American comfort foods.
From gourmet mac 'n cheese to burgers loaded with all the fixings, there's something to please every palate.
Zuzu is arguably most famous for its over-the-top "Show Stopper" milkshakes, which are offered in a different flavor every month.
Enjoy them in the restaurant, or get yours deconstructed for assembly at home.
So what makes these behemoths so special? Besides their extravagent nature, of course.
Well, let's start with the ice cream base. It's rich as can be, not sacrificing an ounce of quality despite the toppings stealing most of the spotlight.
The flavor profile for each month's shake is carefully planned, with all the ingredients serving a unique purpose.
Seasonal influences also play a large role, as evidenced by this root beer inspired shake from May.
Almost too pretty to eat, the shakes taste even better than they look.
This is November's "Apple-y Ever After," which was the tallest Show Stopper yet! It had a butterscotch base topped with apple cider donuts, cranberry oat crisp, oat milk chocolate milk crumb, caramel corn, pretzel twists, and fresh apple slices. Try saying that three times fast!
In months with major holidays, you better believe the shake is festive.
Last Halloween was all treats and no tricks with the "Purple People Eater," featuring chocolate spiders, gummy worms, a tombstone sugar cookie, and candy eyes atop a candy corn base.
The holiday season was made a little sweeter thanks to the "Scottsdale Snowdown."
This beauty is a sugar cookie shake topped with a vanilla coconut snowball, pink cadillac gummies, sugar cookie snowflakes, candy canes, lollipops, strawberry milk crumb, a flamingo Santa, and edible snow. Your tastebuds will be in the holiday spirit after just one sip!
If the regular-sized shakes are a tad too indulgent for your liking, opt for a "Short Stopper" instead.
These guys are smaller, but still pack just as much flavor as the originals. Plus, they come in three different flavors that rotate on a monthly basis!
Whether you dine in or opt for curbside pickup, rest assured that ZuZu is committed to providing a safe experience for all guests.
You can read more about their health and safety protocols here.
Dessert is served from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily.
