Enjoy A Sense Of Peace At This Incredible Waterfront Restaurant In Alabama

Ready for beautiful bayside views, cool cocktails, and fresh seafood dishes with a twist of Southern comfort? I can already taste the Conecuh calamari between sips of a minty mojito at The Waterfront Restaurant in Daphne, Alabama. The well-received, relaxing restaurant is one of the latest offerings from PP Hospitality Group, which has just about cornered the market in the southeastern corner of our state.

PPHG partners "Panini" Pete Blohme and Nic DiMario opened the new concept in May 2023 within the Lake Forest Yacht Club. While The Watefront's offerings and vibe are all fresh and unique to the environment, the PPHG duo knows waterfront dining well – as shown in their award-winning Sunset Pointe at Fly Creek Marina just down the road in Fairhope.

Sunset Pointe was their first effort together, following Blohme's founding of the popular Panini Pete’s Cafe & Bakeshoppe in Fairhope and another location in Mobile. Next came Ed's Seafood Shed in Spanish Fort, a long-beloved casual seafood restaurant on the Causeway. Bluhme and DiMario purchased it in 2018, operating it until a fire destroyed it in 2021.

According to AL.com, around the same time they were coming to terms with the fact rebuilding Ed's at the same location was going to be cost-prohibitive, the opportunity arose to take over space for The Waterfront just 2.5 miles south. They loved the idea and took it on, meanwhile building out a strip mall space about a mile east of the Causeway for Ed's, which opened in April 2023. The Waterfront debuted a month later.

The Waterfront hosted a grand opening bash in June 2023 with a show by Cowboy Mouth and an appearance by Food Network star Guy Fieri. While the restaurant's ongoing music nights are a bit more laid back, they're plenty lively enough!

You can stop in daily for lunch, dinner, and popular afternoon happy hours during the week. Entrees range from snapper to shrimp tacos to several delicious burgers.

The app selection is enticing and includes tajin-dusted Southern street eggs filled with a cool, creamy green goddess mixture and topped with corn and jaleneños. For a little less zing and still plenty of flavor, try the breaded mahi bites served with remoulade.

The Waterfront Salad is almost as colorful as the sunsets. Savor the bright blend of blueberries, mangos, sweet potatoes, and pepitas layered over spring mix, kale, and arugula. You can amp up your protein by adding shrimp, chicken, snapper, tuna, or crab.
