The World Famous Fish Toss In Florida That Attracts Millions Of People Each Year

The annual Mullet Toss at the Florida-Alabama state line is a legendary beach party where participants throw dead mullets to raise money for local charities.

There is an activity that takes place every year up in north Florida that attracts millions of people to the Florida-Alabama state line. This one-of-a-kind fish toss and beach party all rolled into one just happens to be legendary—and perhaps the biggest beach party on the East Coast. If you’re looking to get in a little fun and sun this upcoming summer, check out the out-of-the-ordinary Florida event.

One of the coolest events taking place in Florida every year is the legendary interstate Mullet Toss, right on the state line of Florida and Alabama.

Everyone who participates in the Mullet Toss will throw a dead mullet over the state line of Florida and Alabama to see who gets the fish the farthest.

What started as just a reason to throw a ginormous beach party ended up becoming a strange yet fun way to celebrate in the state.

Believe it or not, people will travel across the globe to take part in this world-renowned beach party.

Hosted by the Flora-Bama Lounge, visitors are able to set up shop on the beach and participate all weekend long in the activities, music, and of course, food!

And while the fish are already dead and will not be harmed in the process of this fish toss, the event still donates all the mullet that have been tossed to the birds and donate the rest to the local zoo.

What’s even better is that a donation will still be made for every fish flung to the local youth charities within the neighborhood.

Each year over $40,000 dollars is raised for local charities because of this wonderfully weird tradition.

The actual Mullet Toss will have different times for kids and adults, with the finals being held every day at 4:30 p.m, so make sure to get there early to secure your spot for the fun.

Where: 17401 Perdido Key Dr., Pensacola, Fl. 32507

When: April 26th through 28th, 2019
