You Won’t Find A Soul In This Abandoned Town In Florida

This entire abandoned Florida neighborhood community seemed to have evaporated almost overnight. The mass exodus from the housing development known as Hillside Estates in Brooksville, Florida was caused by the greed and corruption of the housing board and left behind an entire village of untouched homes and buildings. Read on to learn more about this spooky abandoned community, and take a look at the video below by the YouTube channel "TikiTrex" to feel like you're really there. The footage of this spot will surely make you agree that this is one of the most interesting abandoned places in Florida.

This abandoned neighborhood in Florida looks like something out of a horror movie, doesn't it?

What was once a perfectly normal-looking neighborhood has become eerie and abandoned.

Hillside Estates in Florida was a housing subdivision built in the 1970s. There are over 90 abandoned homes here.

You wouldn't think that the residents of a town in beautiful Florida would want to leave, but that is part of the intrigue of this unique place.

The housing board members were secretly misusing funds provided to them by the U.S. government, which eventually led to the community being unable to keep up with repairs and maintenance.

Their illegal schemes did not work out well for them or, unsurprisingly, for the rest of the town.

Sadly, residents of the community were forcibly moved out over the course of just 90 days in 2012. Today, the vacant homes sit nearly untouched.

What a terrible situation that led to this whole neighborhood being unused. If you are interested in abandoned places to visit in Florida, this is a particularly interesting one because of its recent history. You might typically think of a ghost town as being from the 1800s, but this place was full of people just over a decade ago.
