The Sweet Corn Festival In Wisconsin Is Back For Its 71st Year Of Fun & Festivities
Sun Prairie Sweet Corn Festival is a major summer event in Wisconsin celebrating sweet corn with various activities and entertainment.
Sun Prairie Sweet Corn Festival celebrates one of the best treats of summer in Wisconsin where it is eaten right off the cob. Sweet corn arrives at the peak of the season, and it’s perfectly delicious. Add a little bit of butter, salt, and pepper to your taste — and bite into a bit of heaven. It’s a tradition worth celebrating, and the community of Sun Prairie does just that in a very big way. The celebration of this delicious vegetable draws thousands to the town every year at Angell Park on Wednesday, Aug. 14, through Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024. Here’s what you need to know about one of the best summer festivals in Wisconsin.
The Sun Prairie Sweet Corn Festival takes place the third weekend of August.
It was founded back in 1953 and it has been growing strong since.
The celebration is in Angell Park, on Sun Prairie’s southeast side.
It includes five days of fun and it’s a must-attend festival in south central Wisconsin.
This is the largest sweet corn festival in Wisconsin and it has been named one of the best food festivals in the entire Midwest.
When you attend, you’ll know why.
The Wisconsin Summer Festival serves up a massive amount of sweet corn – 80 tons, to be exact.
It’s perfectly steamed so it’s tender and delicious. Steamed corn is only sold on Saturday and Sunday while supplies last.
And a lot of people behind the scenes help make it all happen.
We love the creativity put into the salt-shaker rack.
But, there’s a lot more to this festival than cobs.
The event kicks off Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. with a lively, family-friendly street parade.
The parade lineup is at Central Heights Middle School (220 Kroncke Drive). The official route starts at Interior by JW on Main Street and finishes at the Market and Linnerud.
Immediately following the parade, head over to Cannery Square for live music from The Dirty Birds.
The festival gains steam on the weekend when the corn is served, which includes a carnival, food and product vendors, a kiddie corner, a family entertainment stage, live bands, a beer tent, and more.
Children's activities include face painting, inflatables, and games.
Nothing says happiness like an eaten ear of corn - or four!
