This Roadside Attraction In Virginia Is The Most Unique Thing You’ve Ever Seen
Discover the best hiking trails in the Pacific Northwest, known for their stunning scenic views and diverse landscapes.
Virginia's roadside attractions are beloved for their quirky and downright bizarre nature. From exotic safari parks to a miniature Graceland, there's no shortage of pull-offs to make any road trip memorable. Located off the scenic Route 81 awaits yet another attraction that may be one of the best kept secrets in town: the American Celebration on Parade.
Patriotic through and through, this extraordinary museum is filled with parade floats of festivals past. If ever you've wondered what happens to floats after major holiday parades have ended, this quirky attraction is your answer:
The specialty museum is located at 397 Caverns Rd
Shenandoah Caverns, VA.
You'll know you've arrived at the American Celebration On Parade once you see the iconic miniature Statue of Liberty outside.
Step inside this 9,000 square ft. space and you’ll have entered a world of massive parade floats, props from Presidential Inaugurals, Thanksgiving Parades, Rose Parades and more.
The museum opened 2000 by a man who had a unique passion for these props. Today, his family lovingly continues to look after the collection.
What’s so extraordinary about this museum is that it allows visitors the chance to see such large floats up close and personal.
Without the movement and commotion of a live-action parade, the floats can be examined in detail and admired for their unique construction.
Each float display explains how the pieces are designed, how the engines function, and the history of the parades where it was featured.
There are approximately 20 floats on display at any given time, so the attraction can be a quick stopping point along your drive.
But why not take your time? This one-of-a-kind attraction is certain to entertain visitors of all ages.
You might also consider stopping by some of the other attractions in the area, such as Shenandoah Caverns. In fact, if you purchase a ticket to the Caverns, your admission to the American Celebration on Parade will be included. It's safe to say a visit to this corner of Virginia is an experience you won't be forgetting anytime soon.
