Just south of the Virginia-Kentucky border near Breaks Interstate Park, the impressive Route 460 Connector is composed of two twin bridges that span 1,700 feet in length.

With the first phase of construction beginning in 2014, the building of this bridge took several years. Each phase followed a detailed construction and design plan.

Due to such effort in both construction and engineering, the bridge was recognized as a top bridge project in North America.

At its tallest, the Route 460 Connector reaches a towering height of 250 feet. It spans Conaway Road (Route 610) and Grassy Creek.

Before the completion of the Route 460 Connector, the title of tallest bridge in Virginia was held by the Wilson Creek Bridge, a scenic 175-foot tall structure in Montgomery County.

Today's tallest bridge is more than just a .8 mile, four-lane divided highway; it actually connects the state of Virginia and Kentucky.

So whether you're looking for a scenic outing or are a fan of such impressive construction, you'll find your trip to see the Route 460 Connector a thrilling one. That is, unless you happen to have a fear of heights!
