Located in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, the Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium is one of Vermont's best and most visited museums. Focusing on natural science and astronomy, the museum hosts public astronomy shows, exhibits, and their stunning butterfly house.

From June until mid-September, the butterfly house at the Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium is home to hundreds of butterflies of differing species.

The average lifespan of a butterfly is just a few weeks, so at this butterfly house you can witness the entire life cycle of these flying friends.

In the fall, when the weather gets colder, remaining eggs are let go in nature, and some butterflies, like the Monarchs, migrate thousands of miles to warmer climates.

You'll find native New England butterflies and moths such as Monarchs, Eastern Swallowtails, Red Admirals, Painted Ladies, and many more at the Shippee Family Eyecare Butterfly House at Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium.
