Did you know that Springfield, Vermont is one of the most magical places in the world for stargazing? Established in 1920, the Stellafone Observatory has been the place for astronomy lovers from near and far to go and view the planets, constellations, stars, and more.
Since 1926, the Stellafone Convention has been held annually here. Typically in August, telescope makers of all levels convene to share ideas and appreciate the seasonal meteor shower that usually takes place this time of year during this event. Want to know more? Stellafane means "shrine to the stars" in Latin. To reach this landmark in Vermont, take VT-103 South if you're coming from Rutland.
Constructed in 1923, the Pink Clubhouse was the initial gathering place for astronomers. In 1977, it was added to the National Registry of Historic Places.
Since its inception, the Stellafane Observatory has become a place for astronomy fans to gather and appreciate views from Breezy Hill in Springfield, Vermont.
This solar observatory was constructed in 2017 and is one of the more recent additions to Stellafane.
