The One Staggering Ice Castle In Utah You Need To See To Believe
Utah really does turn into a winter wonderland this time of year. If you're looking for a truly magical winter experience, head to Midway to see the Midway Ice Castles. There like nothing you've ever seen before.
Midway Ice Castles opened in 2009 and has become a winter tradition for many Utahns.
It's located at 700 Homestead Drive in Midway.
Every winter, the crew starts building the ice castles as soon as it gets cold enough.
Throughout the season, more than 10,000 icicles are added to the castles every day. Each castle weighs as much as 25 million pounds!
Kids love the ice castles, but you certainly don't have to be little to be enchanted by this frozen beauty.
The castles are lit from within by colorful lights, making them appear all the more magical.
From afar, they're simply stunning.
Make sure you wear warm clothing and some winter boots with traction - the paths through the castle are snowy and can be slippery.
Strollers don't do well on the paths through the castles. Instead, bring a winter sled to pull your kids along.
Visit the Enchanted Frozen Sisters on Monday and Wednesday nights from 5 PM to 7 PM, Friday nights from 5 PM to 8 PM and Saturdays from 2 PM to 8 PM.
What's the opposite of ice? Fire, of course! Check out the fire show on Friday and Saturday nights from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
Join Midway Ice Castles on New Year's Eve for fireworks over the castles.
Advanced tickets will be available soon, and you'll want to get yours before the season sells out.
The castles are expected to open late December/early January. Midway Ice Castles’ website for more details and to get updates.
