Most People Have No Idea You Can Do This One Awesome Activity In Texas

Zoos are cool and all since you get to see tons of interesting animals that you can't find anywhere else, but they're in cages, making it hard to interact with them or see them up close. At Mayfield Park in Austin, dozens of peacocks are roaming around, unrestricted, and you can get close enough to touch them if you desire. It's truly a majestic sight to watch the males spread their feathers out while they search for a mate. Read more about it below:

At first glance, it looks like an ordinary park. Still beautiful, but nothing special...

...that is, until you see a peacock with fully-extended feathers strut right in front of you.

And not just one. The park is full of dozens of beautiful creatures showing off to find a suitable female mate.

They're everywhere - the trees, the ground, around the beautiful pond in the middle of the park...

...and you might even get to feed one!

My sister and I did, and they followed us around for the rest of the time we were there. It was creepy and cool at the same time.

It may still not sound like the most fun activity ever, but it isn't everyday that you find a place where some of the world's most majestic birds are freely wandering around.

I highly recommend visiting the park if you haven't yet. It's truly an unforgettable experience to see these breathtaking creatures out in the open rather than in an enclosed zoo environment where you can't interact with them at all or get very close to them.

Have you ever been to Mayfield Park? What was your experience like?
