Of all the fall festivals in Texas, there's one in particular that looks like something straight out of a Hallmark movie. The annual Chappell Hill Scarecrow Festival is an autumn weekend jam-packed with pumpkin decorating, vendors, delicious food, and - of course - hundreds and hundreds of scarecrows! If you can only attend one fall festival in the Lone Star State this year, make it this one. Let's make this scarecrow festival in Chappell Hill for 2023 the best one yet!
Is there anything better than a small-town harvest festival? One of the best fall festivals in Texas is the Chappell Hill Scarecrow Festival, held annually on the 2nd weekend of October.
Hosted by the Chappell Hill Historical Society, the festival transforms the streets of downtown into an autumn wonderland. The event is beloved by the locals, who all descend on the town square for some wholesome fall fun.
Guests can peruse the impressive selection of vendors, with over 250 booths in total. Shop for everything from clothing to home décor to handmade jewelry, undoubtedly coming home with a few treasures.
There are also plenty of attractions for kids, including a barrel train, face painting, and a petting zoo.
Get into the spirit of the season by decorating a pumpkin! What will yours look like?
Other activities include live dance and music performances, lots of delicious Southern food, and tours of the historic downtown district.
Then, of course, there are the scarecrows, after which the festival is named.
Each year, townspeople participate in a scarecrow contest, trying to come up with the most creative and elaborate display. Some of the entries are truly incredible!
As you stroll through the streets and marvel at all the scarecrows, you can't help feeling festive. It's so much fun to see which one is your favorite!
Don't miss all the fun photo-ops - including the two massive hay bale scarecrows guarding the entrance!
