This Little Known Grotto In Texas Is The Perfect Place To Get Away From It All
Westcave Preserve in Round Mountain is a hidden gem with a magical grotto, lush greenery, and breathtaking views.
Hamilton Pool gets all the spotlight for being a mystical, almost otherworldly limestone alcove - and while I'm not trying to discredit its beauty in the least, I would like to bring to attention a similar place that doesn't get nearly as much recognition as it deserves: Westcave Preserve in Round Mountain, which is actually just up the road from Hamilton Pool. Its water is pristine, its greenery lush, and its trees tall, creating a magical atmosphere akin to only that of a Disney movie. And although the grotto is by far the main event of the park, there are several other adventures to be had as well. Long story short, this truly hidden gem should be at the top of your vacation planning list, and here's why:
This magical grotto is part of a 75-acre preserve right down the road from Hamilton Pool.
The hike to get here isn't very strenuous at all, so everyone can enjoy the breathtaking views firsthand.
There's a huge waterfall, and looking out on the grotto from behind as it trickles down will have you feeling awestruck.
And it's just as, if not more, beautiful from the front. Almost like a mini Gorman Falls!
Guided tours will lead you through not only the grotto itself, but expansive caverns where stalactites and stalagmites abound, towering canyons, and birdwatching hotspots.
So no matter your fitness level, you deserve to experience this mystical alcove that will whisk your mind away to a fanciful, happily-ever-after world akin to that of a Disney movie.
Have you ever been to this tucked away, breathtaking preserve? What about any of these other hidden gems in Texas?
