Sip Fine Wines And Celebrate All Things Purple At The Best Lavender Festival In Tennessee

It’s that time of year when the lavender blooms and the sweet aroma fills the Tennessee air. The fact is, it is such a beautiful flower and that seems like a reasonable cause for celebration, don’t you think? Well, you are in luck because just around the corner is the Lavender Festival in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. This event will be one of the sweetest-smelling parties this summer and you won’t want to miss it.

There are plenty of beautiful flowers in the world but I tend to have quite a soft spot for lavender. It smells so good and has tons of uses, so why not celebrate something so good? Enter: Lavender Festival, a free event in historic Jackson Square in Oak Ridge on June 17, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Over 130 vendors will be attending the event so you should expect to see quite a variety among the different booths. Artists will be displaying brilliant works of art, while others will be providing information on the latest gardening practices. There certainly will be something for everyone.

Make sure to bring a cooler because you will want to pursue the farming stands for freshly grown produce. All these activities will certainly make you hungry and for that, you will have dozens of gourmet food trucks to fuel you for the rest of the day.

The event is a family-friendly outing filled with plenty to do for the little kiddos. Some of the activities you can expect to see are bubbles, sidewalk chalk, a splash fountain, train rides, and of course the famous "smoothie bike" is making a return. This unique creation allows kids to pedal-power the blender to mix their very own smoothie... what kid (or adult?) wouldn’t want to do that? Plus, you can expect to hear live music throughout the day featuring great local talent.

There are also ticketed opportunities to further take advantage of this event. Purchase a ticket for the tasting room, where you can try samples from four different Tennessee wineries *and* walk away with a six-compartment wine tote.

If fine wine isn’t your thing, no problem: there is also one other ticketed event you should check out. Purchase a "Tour of the Gardens" ticket to get access to the beautiful surrounding area of Oak Ridge and stroll through four lavish and lovely gardens. These private gardens would otherwise be inaccessible, so make sure you grab tickets while you can.

With so much to see and do, by the end of the day, you will probably need to take a nap, just like this adorable doggie.

Although admittedly, it’s not as cute when humans lay on the sidewalk. so maybe it would be best to find a local place to stay!
