Dog Days At The Hermitage Is A Unique Dog-Friendly Event In Nashville Perfect For An Outdoor Adventure
Dog Days at The Hermitage in Nashville offers a monthly dog-friendly event with historical tours and outdoor activities.
Just about everyone knows that life is simply better with a dog (...or a cat. Or birds! We love birds, too. Oh, and then there are fish...and lizards! Ferrets, and - okay, we love all the animals). Did you know there are events held every week, month, and/or year in Nashville that are specifically created to be dog-friendly? It's true! If you know where to look, you can find all sorts of Fido-friendly things to do over an afternoon. For example, The Hermitage hosts Dog Days on the last Saturday of every month from May through November. This delightful dog-friendly event in Nashville is educational and fun for both yourself and your beloved pup, so load him into the car and let's go!
The Hermitage is the plantation home of Andrew Jackson, the 7th President of the United States.
Nowadays, it's an intriguing glimpse into the past. Visitors get a front-row, in-person look at what life was like not only for the President during those decades, but for the enslaved men, women, and children who lived and worked on the grounds as well.
On the last Saturday of every month, The Hermitage holds the Dog Days event, during which folks can bring their pup along for an interesting adventure on the grounds.
Stroll the gardens, enjoy the perfectly curated nature trails, and admire the stunning 19th-century architecture of the plantation.
As long as he's on a leash, your pup is more than welcome!
Dog Days at The Hermitage is a long-standing Nashville tradition. It's perfect for folks who want to appreciate the beauty of the outdoors without straying too far from home.
From 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., the event is on and Fido is welcome onsite.
If you purchase a combo ticket, you'll have access to the special Hounds Hike the Hermitage tour, which is led by a professional guide. It's an hour-long deep-dive into the history of the grounds, as well as a close-up look at untouched fields and historic sites on the property, too. These tours leave from the Visitor's Center at 10 a.m., so make sure to be there on time!
A basic admission ticket is $8, and a combo ticket to include the guided tour is just $15. Children five and under are free.
The Hermitage prides itself on what they feel would have been the approval of Andrew Jackson himself for this event. They say the 7th President was an animal lover, and he would have been proud to host this event on his property.
Of course, the pups absolutely love it, too.
Any chance to get out of the house and walk around with their favorite person in the entire world is a good day for him or her.
The grounds are truly beautiful, and we think you'll love exploring them with your best friend.
