The Chocolate Factory Tour In Tennessee That’s Everything You’ve Dreamed Of And More
The Nashville-based Olive & Sinclair chocolate factory is one of the most delicious and immersive tours you can take in the city. Located in east Nashville, you'll want to book ahead for a tour of this fabulous and old-school factory, a small but mighty representation of Tennessee intentionality and emphasis on quality. Plus, you'll get to take home a candy bar!
Olive & Sinclair is the only bean-to-chocolate factory in Nashville, making its product a Tennessee born and bred bit of nostalgia. Each chocolate bar and caramel is handcrafted and intentionally planned, making your chocolate experience a true representation of southern hospitality.
The company was founded in 2007 and was in full chocolate producing swing by 2009. Their candy is a source of pride, known as southern artisan chocolate and now shipping all over the United States.
Their process begins by stone grinding their chocolate beans and using stone mills, melangeurs, from the early 1900s. They use pure cane brown sugar only in their products, building out an intentional piece of candy from the absolute beginning.
A walk through Olive & Sinclair is an experience, a genuine joy, a way we can learn how to truly experience the treat so many of us take for granted. This is a Nashville factory that has a heart for their product and it shows.
Interesting fact: there is no milk chocolate for purchase at Olive & Sinclair. If you want to find out why, you'll have to take the tour...but the reason is fascinating. (Psst - if you're really craving your favorite bar, they're sure to have something new you'll love!)
Learn how their chocolate bars and caramels are made from start to finish - take 40 minutes to immerse yourself in the strange and beautiful history of chocolate, and the heart that sets Olive & Sinclair so completely apart from the corporate candy companies of today.
You can enjoy flavors such as Mexican-style cinnamon chili, bourbon nib brittle, a coffee chocolate bar or even the simple and delicious buttermilk white chocolate bar.
Duck fat caramels are known as one of their most popular products, though you may be surprised they're not of the chocolate variety. You can also purchase sea salt and vinegar caramels for a bit of a kick.
The Olive & Sinclair factory is located in East Nashville, in an old building built in 1890 that used to serve as a grocery. It has since become home to Tennessee's premier chocolate and confection shop, but we're just sayin'...
Located at 1628 Fatherland Street, you can visit for yourself. Tours are offered every Saturday on the hour from 10-5pm. They must be booked online ahead of time, and run $5 a person. We'd recommend visiting with kids eight and over for the 30 minute tour.
What a neat opportunity, don't you think? If you're hungry after your chocolate tour, you can always find one of The 10 Best BBQ Sandwiches In Tennessee.
