One Of The Most Popular Roadside Attractions In The World Is Right Here In South Dakota
When you picture an American roadside tourist attraction, whatever comes to mind plus just about every other thing possible can be found all within one stop in South Dakota. If you're from here, you know what it is already - really, the signs are everywhere, it's hard to miss! If you're just driving through, you will probably stop here. If you don't, you've really missed out.
This is one of the most well known and jam packed tourist attractions in the world, and it's quite the experience:
Wall Drug, one of the most popular roadside attractions of all time, is located in Wall, South Dakota.
It's much more than a drug store; it's an entire miniature town.
...There IS a drug store included, so be sure to check that out, too.
Not only that, but just about every other thing you can think of is here, including a Traveler's Chapel.
The big draw about Wall Drug isn't the shops, it's the plethora of sculptures, statues, animatronics, stuffed and mounted animals, and just about everything else.
The giant jackalope out front is a favorite for pictures and posing with.
Along with the 80-foot dinosaur sculpture to draw you in, there is a T-Rex inside that will thrill younger visitors.
After you've seen all the touristy bits, make a stop by the cafe underneath this stunning stained glass ceiling.
You can see the ceiling reflected in your 5 cent cup of coffee that they have been serving at Wall Drug for decades with a price that has never changed. Don't forget a fresh donut to go with it!
And, of course, be sure to take advantage of what made Wall Drug famous when travelers first came through all those years ago: free ice water!
Have you ever been to the Wall Drug? There certainly isn't any place like it in the world, and I'm pretty sure there isn't another tourist attraction anywhere that has as many signs advertising it along the road. It is definitely one-of-a-kind and only in South Dakota!
