Peter Pots Pottery Sits In An Old Rhode Island Grist Mill (And You’ll Love It)

Peter Pots Pottery in West Kingston, Rhode Island, offers unique handmade pottery in a historic mill setting.

When was the last time you treated yourself to some beautiful handmade pottery? Pottery's popularity has been on the rise for years, and we couldn't be happier. And since Peter Pots Pottery has been a Rhode Island institution for 70 years, there's really no place better to find your next treasures.

Peter Pots Pottery is located in West Kingston, inside a historic mill.

While the shop has been at the mill since the mid-1950s, the business was actually founded in 1948.

Oliver and Elizabeth Greene founded the company while they were students at the Rhode Island School of Design.

What started as a fun hobby for them soon turned into a thriving business.

Peter Pots of Providence began selling pottery from a tiny storefront. But in 1954, the Greenes heard the historic Glen Rock Mill in West Kingston was available.

And soon, the former woolen and grist mill became their home.

While you're welcome to shop online, nothing beats coming to the shop and checking out the goods.

Not only is the historic mill setting charming, but you'll have a much better idea of the selection. Every single piece here is crafted one-at-a-time from sculpted molds and glazed by hand.

Peter Pots Pottery sells tableware, drinkware, bakeware, and more.

You'll also find plenty of unique accessories, like candle holders and salt and pepper shakers.

The gift sets here are out of this world.

From one-of-a-kind place settings to coffee and tea sets, you can find unique gifts for weddings, birthdays, or simply for yourself.

Peter Pots Pottery is open daily from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., except for Sundays, when they open at noon.

Come check out the selection of quality high-fired stoneware.
