No one can deny that this has been a strange year in Rhode Island (and the world). But as businesses begin to slowly open back up, it's time to start thinking about all the ways you'd like to explore our beautiful state once again. When conditions allow, we highly recommend checking out the Audrain Automobile Museum. Even if you're not into cars when you arrive, you almost certainly will be when you leave.
The Audrain Automobile Museum is located on Bellevue Avenue in Newport, where it has been since it was founded in 2014.
The building itself is known as the historic Audrain Building, which dates all the way back to 1902.
The museum boasts a collection of over 350 cars and motorcycles ranging from brass era pre-war cars to Supercars of the 2000s.
Americans have always loved cars, and this is the place to come if you're feeling curious and want to learn more.
When you visit, you just might see a car or two that look familiar.
That could be because Jay Leno, who's a big fan of this museum, has featured several of them on Jay Leno's Garage.
A primary goal of the museum is to acquire and preserve automobiles with historical significance to Rhode Island.
The founders wanted a place to display ome of Newport’s most historically important vehicles.
Exhibits rotate regularly, but the always offer a great collection of both new cars and old vehicles...
... and we do mean old.
Not only will you learn about cars here, you'll also get a local history lesson at the same time.
Currently, the museum is closed, but you can still tour it virtually on the website.
They are taking steps to open it as soon as possible, and it won't be long before we're all hitting the gas pedal and exploring places like this.
