The national park, which spans more than 3,000 picturesque acres, provides a glimpse into PA's storied past.

Step back through the pages of time when you visit Valley Forge National Historical Park, which offers free park admission all year around. (Some activities, such as the trolley tour of the park, do require a fee.)

Uncover the stories and the names behind the historical park that served as the winter encampment for General George Washington and the Continental Army during the winter of 1777-78.

Start your adventure at the Visitor Center. Grab a free park map. Talk with a volunteer who can help you plan the perfect visit to the park.

Explore some of the grounds of Valley Forge National Historic Park along its network of trails. Follow the five mile Joseph Plumb Martin Trail, complete with historical markers, that will give you insight into the historical significance of the park.

Valley Forge is also home to several historical monuments, including the National Memorial Arch, the Patriots of African Descent Monument, and the General Anthony Wayne Monument.

General Washington's story - and role in history - comes alive when you visit Washington's Headquarters, also referred to as the Isaac Potts House.

Pause for a moment of reflection at the Washington Memorial Chapel, which welcomes all visitors. The area near the chapel also features a shop where you can pick up a snack or a drink and souvenirs to commemorate your time at the park.

The park hosts an assortment of events throughout the year. Events in 2017 included guided bird walks, a celebration of General Washington's birthday, and evening campfire programs.

Valley Forge National Historic Park welcomes guests from 7 a.m. to a half an hour after sunset all year around. The Visitor Center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. except on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
