Only a bridge separates New Hope, Pennsylvania from Lambertville, New Jersey. The charming small Pennsylvania town is one of the most unique places in the state.

A darling small town with a population of just over 2,600, New Hope hearkens back to a simpler time with quaint storefronts, eclectic restaurants, and a path that follows the Delaware Canal.

Visitors flock to this small Pennsylvania town, particularly during the holidays, for a ride aboard the New Hope Railroad, which offers scenic rides throughout the year and special rides at Christmas, Halloween, and Easter.

Downtown New Hope promises plenty of hidden gem shops and delicious dining, but make sure you also visit nearby Peddler’s Village, which is technically in Lahaska. (Your GPS may have it listed as New Hope.) The shopping village is brimming with more than 60 shops and restaurants.

Billed as a “storybook village,” Peddler’s Villages features beautiful gardens and hosts a variety of events throughout the year.

While you’ll find plenty to keep you busy on a daytrip, a weekend getaway, or longer, you might want to cross the New Hope-Lambertville Bridge, which permits both pedestrians and vehicles. Bikes are not allowed.

If a day of shopping and good eats sounds like a piece of paradise to you, do a bit of both on both sides of the river. Lambertville is home to a collection of antique shops, unique stores, and restaurants.

With its many Victorian homes, the small town in New Jersey will whisk you back in time.
