Next time you're in Hershey, reserve a spot for a tour of the Milton Hershey Mansion, also commonly referred to as High Point Mansion.

Hershey, the man behind one of the world's most famous chocolates, and his wife Catherine moved into their opulent mansion in 1908.

Once overlooking the original Hershey factory, the mansion features 22 rooms - considered modest at the time - and a blending of Greek and Colonial revival architecture.

A guided tour of the home gives insight into the mansion and the Hershey family. Milton and Catherine, for example, slept in separate bedrooms.

One of the masterpieces of this historic mansion, the sweeping staircase leads to breathtaking stained-glass windows. The home itself was designed by world-renowned architect C. Emlen Urban.

Many of the mansion's rooms remain as the Hersheys left them, giving a peek into bygone eras.

Recommended for guests eight and older, tours of High Point Mansion run between an hour and 75 minutes. Tickets go on sale on the 15th of each month and sell out quickly.

Tours are limited to 10 guests and are led by two tour guides. Be prepared to walk and stand a lot. Unfortunately, there is no seating in the mansion.
