The World’s Largest Bicycle Museum and Shop Is Right Here In Pittsburgh And You’ll Want To Visit

Pittsburgh offers unique museums including Bicycle Heaven, the world's largest bicycle museum and shop.

Pittsburgh's got an assortment of eclectic museums. Learn about Andy Warhol's life and works at the Andy Warhol Museum. Climb aboard an authentic World War II submarine at the Carnegie Science Center. And, discover a vibrant collection of vintage bicycles at Bicycle Heaven, the world's largest bicycle museum and shop.

Whether you're in the mood to explore a unique museum or you're on the hunt for a part for your bike, Bicycle Heaven's the place for you.

Undoubtedly one of Pittsburgh's most unique museums, Bicycle Heaven debuted in 1996. It originally served as a repair shop while founders Craig and Mindy Moore, also collected vintage bikes and sold used bicycles.

By 2011, its collection of bikes, now totaling near 4,000, warranted adding museum to its title.

Keep an eye out for Bicycle Heaven bikes in such Hollywood films as Fences and A Beautiful Mind, among others.

Among the 4,000 vintage and new bikes at Bicycle Heaven are 17 Bowden Spacelanders, the first fiberglass bike ever produced. Only about 30 of those bikes exist in the world, including the 17 in Pittsburgh.

Roam throughout the museum where you'll also find an assortment of themed bicycles. Themes include Elvis and the Beatles.

Commemorate your visit to Bicycle Heaven, a non-profit, with such memorabilia as t-shirts and sweatshirts. Bring your bike in for repair or find the perfect vintage or new accessories for your ride.

Love biking the Burgh? Join one of the events that Bicycle Heaven hosts throughout the year. The Bicycle Heaven Ride, for example, is set for June 9-10, 2018. The day features a 15 mile easy ride around the Burgh, a bike show, and a swap meet.

Bicycle Heaven is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
