The Christmas parade in Springfield is said to be the oldest and coldest in the Beaver State, so bundle up and make your way to this pretty town for the most famous Oregon Christmas parade around!

The beautiful town of Springfield is all dressed up for the holidays, and the folks here are ready to celebrate. You'll find some great holiday shopping here, as well as plenty of Christmas cheer as the biggest Christmas parade in Oregon kicks off.

Drive through town, and you'll find hundreds of brightly-lit homes, all aglow with twinkle lights and cheerful decorations. Residents get into the celebration just as much as businesses!

This town takes its Christmas celebration seriously, and it begins with the annual Tuba Concert. It's held at

Two Rivers-Dos Ríos Elementary, and it starts at noon on the parade's kickoff day.

After the tuba concert, find a spot along the parade route for the big parade. It kicks off at the corner of South Avenue and Elm Street, then proceeds down St. Louis Street to the Springfield Expo Center.

The parade is a family tradition for many Oregonians, and thousands will line the streets as the colorful floats make their way down the street. This parade is over 70 years old, so many residents have been attending every year for decades.

Watch for riders on horseback, with jingle bells adorning the saddles and bridles...

...beautifully-restored vintage vehicles, decorated to the hilt...

...and even a Forest Service employee or two. Everyone loves Smokey the Bear!

Get ready to collect some tasty Christmas candy, too! Many of the businesses and organizations participating in the parade will have holiday treats to offer spectators.

It wouldn't be a Christmas parade without an appearance from everyone's favorite man in red. Keep an eye out for Santa, and make sure to wave as he passes by.

The Springfield Christmas parade is billed as "the oldest and coldest in the state." At over 70 years old, it's likely the oldest...but as for the coldest, it varies! Some years can be chilly, but in 2019 it was a seasonal day in the 50s.
