Oregon is well-known for its immense beauty, from its majestic coastline to pristine alpine lakes. But if you live here you might forget to act like a tourist and visit all the cool sights, attractions, and hidden gems our state has to offer. As an almost lifelong Oregonian (I moved here as a kid), I still have a long bucket list of places I want to explore — either for the first time or again.
If you also want to take advantage of Oregon's great tourist attractions, check out our list of the 10 best places to visit in Oregon.
1. Pittock Mansion, Portland
Historic Pittock Mansion is the former home of Henry Pittock, who was a prominent Portlander and an early owner of The Oregonian. Not only is the 1914 home gorgeous but so are the breathtaking views of the city from its grounds.
2. Crater Lake National Park
One of Oregon's most iconic landmarks is not to be missed!
3. Haystack Rock
The entire Oregon coastline is stunning but Cannon Beach's Haystack Rock is top of the list.
4. Painted Hills
Hike through the Painted Hills, part of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument.
5. Wildlife Safari, Winston
Drive through this fabulous wildlife park and zoo in Winston, Oregon, to see a huge range of animals including bears, giraffes, camels, cheetahs, red pandas, elephants, and more!
6. Oregon Caves
Discover the "Marble Halls of Oregon" at the Oregon Caves National Monument in the Siskiyou Mountains.
7. Multnomah Falls
Oregon is a land of waterfalls but Multnomah Falls steals the show.
8. Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area
Explore the spectacular 40 miles of sand dunes that stretch from Florence to Coos Bay.
9. Mt Hood
From hiking trails and sparkling lakes to ski slopes, there's much to explore on Oregon's tallest mountain.
10. Pendleton
Pendleton is a wonderful Western town that's great to visit any time of year. However, we recommend you visit in time to see the annual Pendleton Round-Up.
For more information, visit the Pittock Mansion, Crater Lake, Haystack Rock, Painted Hills, Wildlife Safari, Oregon Caves, Multnomah Falls, Oregon Dunes, Mt. Hood, and Pendleton websites. If your outing includes a long drive, you may want to stock up on car-friendly snacks and/or bring a lunch to enjoy along the way.
We'd love to know how you enjoyed your trip to any of these attractions, so please leave a comment. Also, feel free to share your favorite tourist spots in Oregon, too. We would love to hear from you.
