If you're looking for a Harry Potter-like spot, then you'll love this Oregon building that looks like Hogwarts. It's the main building of Reed College in Portland. Read on to learn more about it and Reed College architecture.
Reed College in Portland was founded in 1908. It's known for its rigorous academics, de-emphasis on grades, progressive politics, and universally required senior thesis. A very large portion of its graduates go on to earn doctorates and other post-graduate degrees.
Its campus is beautiful and spans 116 acres, but the student body is small. Just 1,500 students attend Reed College at any given time. With 164 faculty members, the teacher-student ratio is quite low.
One thing that stands out to everyone who visits or attends Reed College is the Tudor-Gothic style architecture.
If you're a Harry Potter fan, the main buildings may remind you a little bit of Hogwarts!
Sure, it's not really castle-like. And it's not all that magical, either. But the fact it's a beautiful, historical school building on an impressive campus can help you imagine what it would like to be there.
You can picture Hermione studying in this library.
There's no forbidden forest, but there is a forested nature preserve in the center of the campus.
There might not be a Whomping Willow, but perhaps this tree could be a good stand-in for it.
Your imagination can take you anywhere you wish to go. If you go to Reed College, be sure to wear your robe and house colors. Ten points for Gryffindor!
Whether you're into Harry Potter or not, you'll love a visit to the Reed College campus. It's a lovely place to walk or relax among impressive buildings and beautiful landscaping. The outdoor spaces at this college are open to the public, but you'll have to be a student, a staff member, or an invited guest to enter the buildings.
