Stilwell, Oklahoma, known as the Strawberry Capital of the World, hosts an annual Strawberry Festival that attracts thousands of visitors.
Strawberry Capital of the World might seem like a lofty title, but as quirky as it sounds, this place sits right inside Oklahoma! Stilwell has held this official title since 1949, and every year a festival takes place in honor of it all that continues to draw thousands of visitors every year. It's weirdly wonderful, and we think you'll enjoy a day visiting Stilwell at this beloved festival. And you'll never have to ask again: "Where is the Strawberry Capital of the World?"
As you drive into town, you'll be greeted by the official town sign that reads "Welcome to Stilwell, Strawberry Capital of the World."
The town is only home to about 3,700 residents but every year more than 30,000 visitors flock to the town to attend the annual Strawberry Festival that is held on the second Saturday in May.
As you would guess, the festival is all about strawberries.
It originally started to promote strawberry production in the area. Everyone loved it so much, they have continued it for more than 70 years.

The day is packed with a 5K run, parade, rodeo, contests, and more.
Visitors can also enjoy carnival rides vendor booths, arts and crafts, and lots of yummy fair food. The carnival takes place every day during the festival.
Folks even give away free strawberries and ice cream, and because the strawberries are some of the best we'll ever find, it's quite a treat.
Folks in the past have enjoyed live entertainment from such local artists as Brett & Terri, Stilwell’s Got Talent, and the Strawberry Festival Rodeo!
