Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge is a breathtaking sanctuary located in northern Oklahoma, near the town of Cherokee. Covering over 32,000 acres, it is renowned for its unique salt flats, diverse wildlife, and exceptional birdwatching (and stargazing)opportunities.

This unique stargazing event will take place on August 3rd, from 9:00 to 10:30 p.m. This free event requires no prior registration, making it easy for everyone to attend and enjoy a night under the stars.

Arrive early to make the most of your visit. Before the stargazing begins, take the opportunity to explore the unique Selenite Crystal Digging Area.

This is the only place in the world where you can find hourglass-shaped selenite crystals. Digging for these rare treasures is not only fun but also offers a fascinating glimpse into the geological wonders of the region.

The evening will begin with an engaging presentation about the wildlife of Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge, enhancing your appreciation of its stunning landscape and birdwatching opportunities.
