This City In Oklahoma Was Ranked One Of The Grinchiest Cities In America

Oklahoma City was ranked the 9th "Grinchiest" city in America in 2022 due to its lack of holiday events and festivals.

Who would have thought Oklahoma would have a city on Santa's naughty list this year? Oklahoma City was ranked No. 9 in the "Grinchiest" Cities in America list in 2022 by FinanceBuzz due to its lack of holiday spirit and it's a bit surprising to most of us Oklahomans. Keep scrolling below and we'll share with you what criteria were used to determine this Grinchy ranking.

The FinanceBuzz team analyzed the 50 largest U.S. cities and ranked them according to over 20 metrics to determine their holiday spirit and to decide which ones qualify as the grinchiest cities in America.

New York City was the "Grinchiest" city of all and Oklahoma City was 9th on the list overall, certainly the grinchiest city in Oklahoma. Our holiday score was 30.5 out of 100.

Oklahoma City, OK had some of the fewest holiday events and festivals among major cities in the country.

In fact, Oklahoma City ranked the worst on the list for the fewest holiday celebrations of any city in the country, with only 18.5 for every 100,000 citizens.

In comparison, Hartford, Connecticut, had the most with over 950 such events per 100,000 people. Way to go, Hartford!

Oklahoma City does do a great job with the Downtown in December event but when you do look at overall holiday events in Oklahoma, we could use some help in this area.

So, what other criteria were looked at besides holiday events and festivals? The FinanceBuzz team looked at the numbers of the following per capita: Christmas tree farms, ice skating rinks, holiday decorations, holiday markets, food banks, donations, and many more.
