Oklahoma has an abundance of beautiful churches from small to large and old to new. These gorgeous buildings are an important meeting place and a lot of planning goes into their design. Some of the inspiration for these churches comes from all over the world and others are an inspiration for architects to model after. As part of the "Bible Belt," Oklahoma is home to more than 3,500 churches, these are just a small selection of the most spectacular.
1. St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Tulsa, OK
A Parish of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tulsa. It was built in 1926 and is located at 2434 E. Admiral Place.
2. St. James Episcopal Church, Wagoner, OK
Oklahoma's oldest Episcopal church that is still in use. It was built in 1894 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
3. Oklahoma City Oklahoma Mormon Temple
This white marble temple was the first temple built in Oklahoma. It was dedicated on July 30, 2000. It is the 95th operating temple of the LDS Church.
4. Lawton First Assembly, Lawton, OK
This church is newer in style and is home to more than 2000 church-goers. This twenty-first century design will leave you feeling young and hip.
5. First United Methodist, Tulsa, OK
Built in 1921, this historic Tulsa church has been a staple gathering place for thousands of people over the years.
6. First Presbyterian Church, Sapulpa, OK
Located in historic downtown Sapulpa sits this beautiful church full of history in the heart of Route 66.
7. First United Methodist, Ada, OK
The beautiful history inside and outside serves as a reminder of the mark this building has left on Ada, OK.
8. Church in Cleveland, OK
This beautiful, red brick church in Cleveland is small but so charming.
9. Cayuga-Splitlog Mission, Grove, OK
The history of this church dates back to the 1800's and includes an in-depth story of a man named Mathias Splitlog and the Cayuga tribe, which his wife was a member of. Today it is a place of worship every Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m.
10. Boston Avenue Church, Tulsa, OK
Also placed on the National Register of Historic Places, Boston Avenue Church was built in 1929 in downtown Tulsa. It is one of the finest examples worldwide of ecclesiastical Art Deco architecture.
