Take This 2-Hour Horseback Riding Adventure In Oklahoma For One Of The Best Trail Rides In The Country

Looking to get outdoors and enjoy nature in a new way? If so, one of the best ways is a horseback ride in southern Oklahoma in the Arbuckle Mountains. Arbuckle Trail Rides has been taking visitors on rides since 2000 and they are now a nationally recognized trail right in our own backyard.

Arbuckle Trails is located in southern Oklahoma in the town of Sulphur - the gateway to the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. They were recognized as one of the best trail ride destinations in the country and once you experience it, you'll see why.

After arriving at the ranch (please see directions at the end of the article) you'll be given an instruction and practice session in the 'round pen' before heading out on the trails.

All the horses are carefully matched with their riders and are very gentle and well-trained. Plus, all riders under the age of 18 are required to wear a helmet (included in price).

There are several trail options but we think the 2-hour ride to the beautiful Chickasaw National Area is just perfect - it's not too long or too short.

On this ride you'll pass by the Veteran's Lake dam and spillway.

And through hills and canyons located east of Arbuckle Lake.

They have access to over 5000 acres of land for riding and it's all majestic. Trail rides are offered year-round, weather permitting, so even in the dead of winter you can get out and enjoy nature.

Located 4.5 miles N on US Hwy 177 from downtown Sulphur, OK. Do not follow your GPS to the ranch. Follow the GPS to Artesian Hotel, then head 4.4 miles further north from the hotel on US 177, and you will be right in front of the ranch.
