We all know about the 7 Wonders of the World, but did you know Oklahoma has its very own 7 Wonders? They might not be as magnificent as the original seven, but they are some of the most spectacular places to visit in the state. Read on to find out about the 7 Wonders of the World you can only find in Oklahoma:

1. Talimena Scenic Byway

The Talimena Scenic Drive is a National Scenic Byway in southeastern Oklahoma and extreme western Arkansas spanning a 54-mile stretch of Oklahoma State Highway 1 and Arkansas Highway 88 from Talihina, Oklahoma, to Mena, Arkansas. The drive and its incredible surroundings have become a beautiful and popular attraction in the state.

2. Turner Falls

Located on Honey Creek in the Arbuckle Mountains near Davis, Turner Falls is one of Oklahoma's tallest waterfalls, dropping 77 feet into a natural swimming pool. At the center of Turner Falls Park is the clear water that flows throughout the park creating creeks and natural swimming pools.

3. Great Salt Plains State Park

Great Salt Plains State Park is a 840-acre state park located near Jet, Oklahoma. It was so named because it is covered with a layer of salt deposited long ago by an inland sea. A saline aquifer still flows beneath the surface and replenishes the salt whenever the water table rises. The salt is left behind when the water evaporates. The refuge is the only spot in the world where crystal enthusiasts can dig for hourglass selenite, a rare and fragile form of selenite, which is a form of gypsum. Digging times are available from April 1 through October 15.

4. Tallgrass Prairie Preserve

The Tallgrass Prairie Preserve near Pawhuska, Oklahoma is the largest protected area of tallgrass prairie on Earth, spanning 39,000 acres. It is home to a host of wildlife including white-tailed deer, coyotes and more than 2,000 bison. Visitors can experience an afternoon prairie picnic, or enjoy the awesome spectacle of an evening sunset in the wide-open spaces.

5. Little Sahara State Park

Named for its resemblance to the Sahara Desert, Little Sahara boasts over 1,600 acres of sand dunes, ranging in height from 25 to 75 feet. The dunes are located south of Waynoka in northwest Oklahoma, and are a popular spot to ride a dune buggy or an ATV.

6. Alabaster Caverns

The highlight of this 200-acre park is the 3/4-mile cavern formed of alabaster, a rare form of gypsum, making it the largest natural gypsum cave in the world open to the public. Alabaster Caverns is home to four caves that are kept especially for spelunking.

7. Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge

Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, located in southwestern Oklahoma near Lawton, has protected unique wildlife habitats since 1901, and is the oldest managed wildlife facility in the United States Fish and Wildlife Service system. The refuge spans over 59,000 beautiful acres and is home to free range buffalo, Texas longhorn cattle, prairie dogs, elk and deer. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking.
