We Bet You Didn’t Know Ohio Was Home To The Delightfully Quirky National Barber Museum And Hall Of Fame
The National Barber Museum And Hall Of Fame in Ohio offers a quirky and educational experience about the history of barbering.
The Buckeye State is a weird and wonderful place that's home to some truly unique oddities and attractions. The National Barber Museum And Hall Of Fame, however, might just be the weirdest. This quirky Ohio museum is, as its name suggests, an homage to the art and history of barbering, and if you've never been, we highly recommend making a day trip out of this fun destination.
What's the fastest way to look clean and fresh? A visit to the barbershop, of course.
Barbershops as we think of them are a fairly modern concept, though the art of barbering harkens all the way back to 5000 BC!
This is the kind of thing you'll learn about at The National Barber Museum & Hall of Fame, a delightfully quirky museum in Canal Winchester, Ohio.
This museum was established in 1988 by Mr. Ed Jeffers in order to preserve and promote the rich and intriguing history of the barbering profession.
Here you will be transported back in time through the thousands of beautifully maintained barbershop items from all over the country, including vintage signs, tools, chairs, and more.
Today's kids have it good... iPads and lollipops and colorful animal barber chairs. The kids' chairs of yesteryear are a bit intimidating! And don't look the most comfortable.
Hair tools or torture devices... depends on who's asking.
These hair dryers sure are a far cry from today's Dyson dryers!
So the next time you put off going to the barber or have a kiddo who's reluctant to get their hair cut, kindly remind them that the spa-like salons of today are a far cry from the barbershops of yesterday!
Although, we do miss these swirly barber poles.
Have you visited this quirky Ohio museum before? The National Barber Museum And Hall Of Fame is an only-in-Ohio attraction sure to make you smile... and learn something new!
And when you're in the area, why not stop and stay awhile? The Ohio Log Bed and Breakfast offers an impossibly charming place to rest your head for the night.
